Taken in the space of her personal garden in Washington D.C., Terri Weifenbach’s photographs reveal the secret world of a nature populated by birds that nest in urban gardens. Oscillating between the fantastic and the real, his images seem to be taken on the sly where the birds run at full speed, dance or land, freeze and hold meetings. The seasons follow one another, the colors of the garden vary. Lights and saturated colors, games between blur and ultra sharpness of detail, freeze frames draw a “super reality”. Terri Weifenbach immerses us in the infinitely small and reveals to us the wonder of their world.

This book is part of the Birds collection which celebrates, through the eyes of various artists, their immense presence in a world where they are today weakened. Ornithologist Guilhem Lesaffre offers a unique essay to accompany each set of photographs. For those of Terri Weifenbach, it highlights the adaptation of birds to urban settings.
