Alter, by Laura Farneti, published by FuoriMargine – Centro di produzione di danza e arti performative della Sardegna. with Laura Farneti
Fuorimargine was born in 2019 within the twenty-fifth edition of Autunno Danza as a project to support emerging creativity and then consolidate as a Dance and Performing Arts Production Center of Sardinia in 2022 with ministerial recognition. Alter, an artist’s book edited by Laura Farneti, who has been following Fuorimargine’s activities for years with her photos, and Subtitle, the communication studio responsible for the Center’s visual identity, was born to narrate these first three years.
“The experience of residencies for dancers produced ephemeral movement in those spaces; improvisation and research annulled the mechanicity of industrial production and pursued canons, personal and collective solutions. The sound of machines was replaced by the labored breaths of performers and the sounds of musicians.Research.The spectator does not sweat, his breath betrays no effort, he knows how to look ahead, and it is his eyes that roam around the scene, that move.He does not squirm, he does not know how to tip over, what to see during a jump, how much dust a linoleum floor has. This is the story of that experience, a traversed landscape and a foreign body trying to dance by watching.”- Laura Farneti
Laura Farneti was born in Cagliari, Italy in 1975. Since 2005 she has been working as a scene photographer with some important festivals on the island (L’Isola del Teatro, Signal, Autunno Danza, Nues, Le Isole del Cinema, Respiro, Fuorimargine). She collaborates permanently with Teatro del Sale, Fuorimargine, Sardegna Teatro and Film Commission.
