Photobooks for breakfast – con Sugar Paper

Photobooks for Breakfast is a monthly event that combines the pleasure of breakfast with the charm of photography books.

Croissants, specialty coffee, and photography books become the meeting point for enthusiasts, curious minds, and anyone who wants to gently approach the world of contemporary photography and photography books.

The morning begins with a convivial moment: an opportunity to have breakfast, chat, and browse the shelves of our bookshop, discovering the latest publications. Next, Alex and Marcello present five carefully selected photography books, united by a theme that will be the common thread of the meeting.

This is the selection of books chosen by Sugar Paper for Leporello on the occasion of
Black History Month:

Malick Sidibé, Painted Frames, Loose Joints, 2025;

Alick Phiri, Lusaka Street, Art Paper Editions, 2025;

Baldwin Lee, Baldwin Lee, Hunters Point Press, 2022;

Max Pinckers, STATE OF EMERGENCY, Self-published, 2024;

Rahim Fortune, Hardtack, Loose Joints, 2024

Sugar Paper is a cultural space founded in 2023 and based in Modena, which promotes contemporary photography and photography books through courses, talks, workshops, and events. Founded by Mattia Bianco, Marcello Coslovi, and Alex Tabellini, Sugar Paper was born from the desire to use photography as a tool to imagine a more responsible, open, and sensitive society. The heart of the space is a specialized library that houses a wide and carefully curated selection of photography books, magazines, and essays from different geographical and cultural contexts, offering the opportunity to explore diverse knowledge and question Eurocentric hegemony, opening up to other imaginaries.
