Sourced from family albums, online archives, and flea markets, these vintage photographs—dating from the 1920s to the 1940s—are reinterpreted through the artist’s creative vision. The series, titled Dare alla Luce, carries a double meaning: illumination and birth. Through backlit holes, Friend transforms these fragments of the past into ethereal scenes, where figures and landscapes are cloaked in luminous patterns, evoking magic and nostalgia. This interplay of light and shadow invites the viewer to reflect on the ephemeral nature of time, memory, and existence.
