Before becoming in Liverpool the “photieman” who photographs people in the streets, pubs, clubs, markets, docks, parks and football stadiums, Tom Wood collected old postcards including mothers with their children. girls or sisters with each other. Mothers, daughters, sisters reconcile the photographs that Tom Wood took on the city streets between the late 1970s and that of the 1990s, as well as part of his personal collection of anonymous images. Sometimes posed and sometimes captured in the spontaneous movement of the street, in black and white or haloed in his palette of colors so special, the portraits of Tom Wood give off a force and a presence of tremendous intensity. They magnify these women, and pay tribute to their lives as mothers, sisters, daughters, to this intimate bond and this palpable humanity that connects them.
