Rinko Kawauchi has titled her book *M/E*, referring to the initials of ‘Mother’ and ‘Earth’, but also to the English word ‘Me’, to emphasise her deep connection with nature. The artist casts an intimate and delicate gaze upon the living world to capture its fragile beauty: from a drop of dew on a leaf to the majestic face of a glacier.

Her approach is guided by intuition: the images arise spontaneously, without being staged. The result is a series of almost meditative and poetic photographs, akin to dreamlike visions that seek out the ephemeral and the fleeting moment.

In this volume, the artist brings together photographs taken in Iceland and Japan, placing the element of water at the centre: clouds, rain, rainbows, ice and mist. Printed on the finest Japanese paper, the book plays with transparency and alternates photographic sequences with blank pages that serve as moments of silence, whilst the cover is embellished with silver details that reflect the light.
