Two days with Federico Clavarino. May 7th: book presentation; Italia o Italia; May 8th: Workshop BEEF – Find a book you hate to make one you love

For two days, we will have the chance to enjoy the company of Federico Clavarino, can’t wait! Listening to him speak is always a source of new inputs, and having the chance to do a worshop with him, albeit brief, is an opportunity not to be missed…especially given the theme we chose!

May 7th, 7 pm

Book presentation: Italia o Italia

Mysterious and labyrinthine, the photographs in “Italia o Italia” interweave reality and representation; flickering shadows draw figures on marble and brick walls, muted colors and the presence of mysterious symbols characterize the images of alleys and squares, recalling the world of de Chirico’s paintings. Shards from the present intermingled with echoes from the past create an elusive elegy that the reader is invited to decipher, losing himself in a suspended and fragmented world. Revised and expanded edition of the renowned publication by Akina Books (2014): 8 never-seen-before images and a new sequence.

May 8th, 10 am – 6 pm

Beef – Find a book you hate to make one you love.

In English the term beef is slang for rancor, animosity: “I have beef with him.” Like in the dissing between Kedrik Lamar and Drake, Norman Mailer vs. Gore Vidal, Van Ghogh vs. Gauguin, beef generally refers to the idea that someone else’s work is getting on your nerves. During this day we will focus on a book we don’t like, to work on it. The target may be political, the book may be the object of criticism and the starting point of a new work, the intention may be very personal, you may simply find a book boring and want to improve it. You can bring the book you hate from home or find one at the bookstore. The goal is to produce a digital fanzine that everyone can then print in the days following the workshop. We will devote a space in the bookstore to display them until the end of the month.

The cost of the workshop is 80 euros + vat. There is time to register until May 7th.

Max 8 participants
