On June 8, 1968, in a year ravaged by division and violence, the coffin of assassinated senator and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy was carried on a funeral train from New York City to Washington, DC. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered along the tracks in a spontaneous expression of pain. Visual artist Rein Jelle Terpstra diligently collected snapshots, stills and accounts of that sweltering summer day, presenting a poignant photographic reconstruction of the historic train journey in this beautifully designed and bound book. Included is an essay by David Levi Strauss on photography, the memory and hope that “Bobby” embodied.
