Casa Azul is a photographic and sociological project based on the stories of five transgender women imprisoned in one of the male hospitals of Mexico City. The project shows the process of building people’s identity in an environment that prohibits them from expressing their femininity. Giulia Iacolutti illustrates it with photographs printed in cyanotype, the Prussian blue which refers to the “blue house” in which prisoners are required to wear blue.
Including an original cyanotype.
