COUNTER-TUTORIALS can be intended as a countercultural way of using the tutorial format. While having the same style and structure of more conventional tutorials and following the how-to formula typical of videos for educational purposes, COUNTER-TUTORIALS have decidedly different objectives and intended audiences and function as political tools to create awareness or generate social change. These kinds of tutorials have been discovered, researched, and used inside a number of workshops. The aim is to address a series of topical issues, mark a specific socio-cultural context and focus more on the development of the Self.
The book COUNTER-TUTORIALS is an account of the research On Tutorials, Stereotypes and Body Visions by Corinne Mazzoli, and collects the main experiences of workshops that took place in Slovenia, Italy and Mexico and that encourage the creation of counter-tutorials, accompanied by textual contributions by Miriam de Rosa, Kevin B. Lee, Alessandro Castiglioni.
The research is supported by the Italian Council (2021), Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity, Italian Ministry of Culture.
