Nuovo inventario dei menhir salentini are witnesses to the stratifications of time, from time to time Christianised, forgotten or besieged by contemporaneity. But never defeated. Giuseppe Fanizza searched for them for about a year among the sheep-tracks and crossroads of the Salento and looked at and photographed them as if they were there, like stone signs embedded in the territory, to ‘trace texts in the chaos of the world’.
