This publication is another piece of artistic research focusing on the analogy between the geology of limestone territories, internal biology and the morphology of the human body.
The first chapter of this research was developed as part of the cycle “Desplaçaments, ressonànices contemporànies” (Displacements, contemporary resonances), presented in early 2023 at the Espai Montgrí of the Museu de la Mediterrania (Torroella de Montgrí, Catalonia).
In this initial phase, the proposal established a connection between the internal morphology of the Montgrí Massif (limestone) and various fossilised bone fragments found in this area and preserved in the museum’s collection. In a second chapter, carried out in the spring of 2024 at Cultural Rizoma, the research continued to explore these similarities. In this case, the exercise focuses on two facts, one historical and one experiential, which share a common starting point: the confusion between a tooth and a stone.
From this ambiguity, Clara Gassull Quer develops in “Everything that unites is destined to dissolve” a series of visual exercises in which stone and bone are exchanged for one another and become indistinguishable. A constant suspicion emerges from this investigation: that perhaps, in reality, we are approaching the same thing.
