A photobook on occasion of the exhibition Roger Ballen.! drawing meets photography at Museum Gugging from September 24, 2025 to February 15, 2026.
The exhibition focuses on drawing—an essential element of the “Ballenesque” aesthetic. Over the decades, Ballen’s work has evolved from narrative photography to an art form increasingly shaped by drawing and showing a strong affinity with Jean Dubuffet’s concept of Art Brut.
The book includes works from the series Outland, Boarding House, Shadow Chamber, and Roger’s Rats.
