Giovanna Ceniccola, architect and PhD in Conservation of Architectural Heritage, is an official at the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of L’Aquila and Teramo. She has conducted research in the fields of restoration and conservation, as well as on the relationships between earthquakes, architectural heritage, and territorial transformation.
Antonio Di Cecco, holding a degree in Building Engineering-Architecture, works in architectural and landscape photography. His research focuses on analyzing the processes of site modification and the relationship between humanity, environment, and time, with a particular focus on post-disaster landscapes and forms of temporary living. The exhibition Photography and Catastrophe. Antonio Di Cecco in dialogue with the collections of the Photothek of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (2018) was dedicated to these themes.
This volume is a further outcome of an experimental research path into Italian post-earthquake scenarios undertaken since 2014 as part of the project Art History and Catastrophes – Seismic Italy by the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut.
