Alexis De Bonis, Chronology of Love — on Dario Bellezza. Reading and display of printed matter. Part of USCITA festival
After two months in Rome as part of a residency supported by the Goethe-Institut, curator Alexis de Bonis presents Chronology of Love — on Dario Bellezza. Somewhere between storytelling and research, the project takes the literary work of Dario Bellezza as its starting point to explore the relationships between language, translation and the act of loving. Through the play of quotation, Chronology of Love — on Dario Bellezza traces an intertextual genealogy that sets his writing in resonance with that of Anne Carson, Stacy Doris, Sarah Kane and David Wojnarowicz… Quotation thus becomes a tool for exploring forms of transmission: words, gestures and affective practices that transform, endure and move through time. In May 2027, Lateral Roma will host an exhibition presenting the work of A. L. Steiner and the archive of Dario Bellezza in Italy for the first time.
Alexis de Bonis (lives and works in Paris) is an independent curator. His research takes an interdisciplinary approach that interweaves theoretical reflection with sensory experience, examining power dynamics at the intersection of the intimate and the political. In 2023 he joined Shmorévaz, an independent art space located in a former shoe shop.
