The Leporello bookshop is pleased to host the second appointment of the third edition of ZTL, a project ideated and curated by Rossana Calbi and Martina Ronca.
On the occasion of the inauguration of Jacopo Paglione’s exhibition, whose works Bedroom Tales and Milza will be respectively exhibited inside and outside the bookshop, the two curators will present the volumes Ultraqueer and Queer Pandémia, published by Edizioni Tlon, along with Nicola Bonimelli and Davide Lunerti of TWM Factory.

— I remember that when I was twenty and I had recently moved to Rome from my small hometown, I used to go to a friend of mine’s house and we would lay down on the bed to talk about our dreams and our ambitions, but above all about the difficulties, the fears and obstacles that stood between who we were and who we thought we wanted to be.

The photographer defines his project as the expansion of the spaces and within the spaces of a generation, and the observation that expands in order to contain what can still be more. Bedroom Tales is the first photographic project by Jacopo Paglione that is present in an editorial work edited by TWM Factory, Ultraqueer, created in collaboration with Tlon editions. Here Jacopo Paglione’s work is intimate. In the delicacy of Bedroom Tales it is revealed a confused solitude that seeks declarations but not a clear framework in the constant and vital search. The photographer responded to “the call for artist” and became part of the volume and of the exhibition project with sixty other artists who state how the monstrous is capable of becoming a political action as well as an artistic action.
One year later: the naked bodies charged with the tension crystallized by Paglione’ s shots are part of Queer Pandémia. The shots of Milza tell about subjects surrounded by static, immobile, almost hieratic landscapes, yet in our perception the impetus of their emotions emerges in all its clarity; it emerges the shortness of breath, the physical, emotional and cognitive stress. This is how the art historian Martina Ronca explains the work included in the pages of Queer Pandémia, and exhibited at BASE in Milan in 2023. For the first time, in a single meeting, ZTL will introduce two volumes: Ultraqueer and Queer Pandémia.
We will start from the various exhibited works to tell a growth, a development that moves not in a linear way but with a very specific direction: the approach to representations that can be declared in their totality without pre-constructed and partial readings.
