Guarda dove metti i piedi, by Francesca Crisafulli and Giusi Quarenghi. With Francesca Crisafulli. Published by Topipittori

Following the wonderful presentation of Calpestami, the latest release from Leporello Books—a sort of vending machine featuring trampled hearts or hearts waiting to be trampled, photographed by Francesca Crisafulli—we are delighted to welcome her back to the bookshop to take another look at the ground with her new book, published by Topipittori.

Guarda dove metti i piedi, by Francesca Crisafulli and Giusi Quarenghi, is a photobook that invites readers to walk the streets of everyday life with fresh eyes.

Children’s feet, whether still or in motion, see and feel; they feel what they touch, what lies on the ground, and, as they feel, they search until their eyes see it and give it form: new forms on the vast body of the earth and of things. See what? The invisible, Paul Klee would say, what doesn’t exist if you don’t see it; what you don’t see if you don’t look at it and let it look at you; and that doesn’t exist. if you aren’t there where you are.

But children’s feet are always right where they are; that’s why they feel, they see, and from that which is invisible they create visible stories—stories that transform as you look at them, and take you elsewhere. Just like these photographs, which, every time you look at them, become something else, suggesting to readers that they change their perspective, that they go out into the world and remain there with curiosity and confidence, open to wonder, and, from time to time, thanks to feet that feel and touch the ground, take flight.
