Presentation Maria Di Stefano’s fanzine THIS IS US with Maria Di Stefano and Donato Loforese, Studio Co-Co

This Is Us is a photographic project conceived by multimedia artist Maria Di Stefano, curated by Veronica He. The of the thirty portraits depict adolescent girls and boys, born or raised in Italy by parents of different origins, who tell the city and reveal themselves in it. This Is Us wants to give voice to their bureaucratic limbo – only when they reach the age of majority can they apply for Italian citizenship – publicly affirming the complexity and richness of their individual heritage.

From September 30th to December 20th, the advertising spaces located along the route of the streetcar line 19 host the portraits, crossing the city of Rome from Centocelle to Prati.
An exhibition gesture that replaces the advertising message with an equally contemporary emblem of our society, aesthetically reactivating these places scattered throughout the city.

The poster becomes a statement and is transformed into a new dimension of encounter and relationship, with the other, with another face of the city, even with ourselves, who are the actors of the gaze and the object of that of the girls photographed.
