«The Survival of Primitive Humanity in the North American Indian Culture» – Thanks to this American experience, the organic relationship between the art and the religion of “primitive” peoples would have appeared very clear to me; that I would have been able to clearly identify the identity, or rather the indestructibility of primitive man, that in all ages is always the same. So I could show that it was part of both the culture of the early Florentine Renaissance and, later, of the Reformation.
