La Laguna di Venezia is a tribute to the Venetian lagoon and its horizon. Bound as an origami booklet, a collection of twenty-two postcards portrays the farthest removed areas of Venice, home to uninhabited islets, small watercrafts, piers, harbours and fishing infrastructures.
Spread over 118 small islands, present-day Venice is an equally fierce and fragile ecosystem endangered by past industrial developments and ever-increasing tourist tides. All along the horizon’s offing that runs across each postcard lay man-made structures and objects blocking off the sight: weekend boats, trees, deserted islands, wooden poles, oil tanks, metal huts. La Laguna di Venezia intimates the lagoon’s abandonment without directly showing either the causes or the consequences of the city’s corrosion.
