Yamamoto Masao, Small things in Silence (3rd edition), 2024

The third edition of Small things in Silence captures Yamamoto’s work and sensibility on an unprecedented scale. Yamamoto brings Japanese traditions into modern imagery with poetic and lyrical images that transport and inspire.

Small Things in Silence offers a perspective on the 20-year career of one of Japan’s most famous photographers. In Yamamoto’s own words: “I try to capture moments that no one sees and make a picture of them. When I see them in print, a new story begins”.

Small Things in Silence includes images from each of Yamamoto’s major projects – Box of Ku, Nakazora, Kawa and Shizuka – as well as images from some of his original photographic installations.
