Created by Lee Shulman, The Anonymous Project collects and preserves coloured slides film from the end of the 1930s to the mid-1980s, taken by amateur from all over the world. An amazing energy emerges from these intimate archives taken from backgrounds of family, home, and house that document birthday parties, Christmas, lunches, hangovers, picnic or naps in the garden. Iintense colours and sharpness of Kodachrome capture family moments and out of the time, and them create a kaleidoscopic diary of an era.
Families capture the highlights that mark their lives, as well the specific changes of the post-war consumer society (the arrival of TV, for example, or a new car).
Ordered in sequence, these moving anonymous archives celebrate the “change of life” and trace the outlines of a collective memory, ordinary but also precious.
