April 2024

Workshop Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April, from 10 am to 6 pm,

An introduction to the use of flash around Pigneto, with Sebastián Bruno

The workshop held by Sebastián Bruno is both a practical and theoretical one: the participants will work on their personal approach and on different strategies to create portraits in everyday settings, indoors and outdoors, through a series of exercises where the playful aspect takes center stage.

After a first part devoted to examples of the various possibilities of using flash, followed by a more strictly technical introduction, Sebastian will conduct a series of theatrically inspired exercises with the participants, working on disinhibition, relationship and approach to the other, which will form the basis of the work around the neighbourhood.

The works created by the participants will then be analyzed and selected together, to create a slideshow which will be projected at the end of the workshop.

What you need: each participant must bring a digital camera, with flash and batteries, and, if possible, receivers and transmitters or a cable to be able to use the flash off camera.

Maximum 12 participants. Registration by April 4th

Cost: 150 euros

Sebastián Bruno is a photographer and filmmaker of Argentine origin. In 2010 he moved from Buenos Aires to Cardiff to study documentary photography at the University of South Wales, Newport.

His portraits of everyday life have a peculiar flavour also thanks to a narrative structure of his projects that welcomes the challenge of “photographing a situation, a person or an apparently ordinary object and transforming it into something else”. His latest book, Ta-ra, published by Ediciones Anómalas, the project of which is on display at Leporello from April 5th to May 18th 2024, collects photographs taken between 2013 and 2022 in working-class towns and villages in South Wales.
