Le Nemesiache: Reclaiming Mythological Rituals is the first monograph dedicated to the group of Neapolitan feminist and pacifist artists. Co-founded in 1970 by the multidisciplinary and visionary artist and writer Lina Mangiacapre, Le Nemesiache fostered an experimental artistic practice and a way of being in the world rooted in feminism, mythology, folk tales, science fiction, and radical imagination—introducing the notion of transfeminism as early as the 1980s.

Throughout their decades-long practice, the group recovered an androgynous mythosophy in order to transcend art as mere representation and to challenge femininity as a modern identity category. Their distinctive transformative approach within Italian and Western feminist art history led not only to the emergence of an interdisciplinary practice—encompassing film, performance, writing, ritual, poetry, music, collage, costumes, protests, and conferences—but also to the creation of a new political language, grounded in cosmological creativity and justice through mythological rituals.

Previously unpublished documents, images, photographs, and posters from the group are presented alongside new creative, political, and historical contributions that evoke the collective joy of Le Nemesiache’s story—bringing myth back into the world, rewriting it, and embodying it anew.
