Presentation Saturday March 2nd, 6.30 pm,

La camera buissima – Viaggio alle origini della fotografia tra storie, invenzioni ed esperimenti with the authors Irene Lazzarin and Elisa Lauzana

We are back to TOOL for a presentation of a children’s book that all of us adults should read! The presentation will be preceded at 4 pm by a photography workshop for children ages 8 to 11 inspired by the first chapter of the book.

It seems impossible, yet there has been a world without photographs. And when the first photographic images appeared in the 19th century, they looked nothing like the ones we know: they required hours of work, they were expensive, and in the beginning they were not even made of paper! The camera buisssima takes us, through stories and activities, to discover misunderstood artists and insatiable travellers, failed experiments and strokes of genius, photographs made of chemical reactions and matter. During this journey into a distant time, which we only imagine thanks to the nostalgia filter of our smartphones, we will discover that photography is not an ‘old story’, but a living history that cannot be reinterpreted as if it were a game: telling it is an invitation to enrich and believe in one’s own vision.

Photography workshop

The workshop focuses on the optical principle of photography, thanks to the pinhole: each participant will build his or her own pinhole box with us in order to observe the phenomenon of image flipping. Participants will then be able to shoot some still life to make a real analog photograph made with a pinhole camera, also discovering darkroom development.
