Mario Cresci, Analogie e memoria, 2022

Analogie e memorie is Mario Cresci’s so-called ‘work in the drawer’. In Matera between the late 1970s and early 1980s, he had put together a variety of iconographic material: drawings, signs, notes, writings of various kinds, his own and other authors’ images, collages, posters, clay tablets. All at an embryonic level. He had then photocopied everything and put his hand to it, transforming its form and content, drawing on it, writing on it, painting on it, making the intervention on the photocopies an original, the work of art.
