Mario Puzo has written a book on the Mafia. Coppola made a film. But only Letizia Battaglia has been able to tell the story and its harsh truth.

Anthology is an impressive collection of the extraordinary photographic work by Letizia Battaglia between 1971 and 2016. Letizia Battaglia (Palermo, 1935) is a Sicilian photographer and photojournalist. Although his photos document a broad spectrum of Sicilian life, the body of his works is best known for his work on the mafia. The volume, catalog of the homonymous exhibition at the ZAC in Palermo, curated by Paolo Falcone, guides the reader along a journey into one of the darkest periods of post-war Italy. In an interview with CNN, Letizia Battaglia admits “I had a blood archive”. In 2017, the New York Times included the photographer among the 11 most influential women of the year.
