For ten years, I had my pictures printed at the same lab, in Milan,

Mario used to make some color test pieces before giving the ok for the final version to be printed. A portion of the nega-
tives, the most significant ones, were printed in random order and served as a general indication to understand whether

the color tone of each individual photo was the desired one.
Once Mario had made his own consideration, he used to tear the first trials and bin them. He did this with all his clients,
but not with my trials.
For ten years, every time I went to Mario’s, I used to take for myself, could become an autonomous work. The error – the
waste, what is destined to be discarded – may give birth to a new sense, dense with life.
Depression is considered a mood disorder characterized by such symptoms as: deep sadness, reduction of vitality levels,
loss of interest for daily activities, negative and pessimistic thoughts, cognitive functions alteration, sleep and appetite
disorders. When my wife Cristina fell into depression, I realized that the illness affects not only the patient but also those
close to them, primarily their family. Through photography, I tried to imagine the dark and confused thoughts that
swam like fish in my wife’s head. Now, after so much suffering, she has finally and labo- riously emerged from the tunnel.
