STILL / MOVING / STILL OBA (open by appointment) at leporello

There is a cliché for which adapting a content passing from a media to another, for instance the film adaptation of a book, is a useless operation. The many adaptations and versions of the fundamental 1962 short film by Chris Marker, La Jetée -which in turn is inspired by Hitchcock’s Vertigo-, but also Psycho book adaptation by RJ Anobile, show on the opposite not only a way more complex relationship between the starting information and the new supports, but also that there’a possibility to benefit from the intersection between literaly language, book form and cinematographic image. The relationship between book and film and vice versa is an occasion to reflect on the relationship between moving images and images printed and organized in a book form. Still/ Moving / Still is an incomplete and chronologically across the board selction of (artist) books based on the relationship between page and moving image, wether appropriated, suggested or frozen.

Federico Antonini (1985) is a designer, researcher and book collector. His research core is the relationship between conceptual art and book project, the changes of textual/visual information and the expressive peculiarities of (re)production media. He Lives and works between Roma and Venezia. OBA (open by appointment) is his private library, open by appointment, collecting visual experimentations in book form.
