THE BLACK ISSUE – Rvm Magazine new issue

with Giammaria De Gasperis, Agnese Porto and Francesca Pignataro

The Black Issue

In Bridges, a section between the current issue and the next (Black and Pink Issue) Laura Pannack explores the issue of post Brexit separation, a phenomenon that has geopolitical, socio-economic and even emotional repercussions on people’s lives. As always, the heart of the magazine are the five projects: Katrin Koenning and Sarker Protick establish a dreamlike visual dialogue balanced between real and paranormal, between day and night, everyday life and imaginary creatures. Michele Palazzi accompanies us towards “the end of the known world”, investigating the process of marginalization in Portugal, a consequence of the decline of capitalism. Due to the need to preserve the family memory after the 2011 tsunami, Mayumi Suzuki creates a dialogue between the world of the dead and their own, giving voice to the drama of loss. Piergiorgio Casotti and Emanuele Brutti document the new residential segregation underway in the USA, where racial differentiation takes shape through geographical macro-areas. In the end, the intimate and melancholy world of Sakiko Nomura, which makes us immerse in her kuroyami, the darkness made of nudes, urban landscapes and still lifes.

Rvm is an independent magazine of photography and other narratives (short stories, illustrations, patterns and editorial design) now in its third release after a deep restyle, kept its spirit open to the narration of the world through multiple channels. Conceive, according to the parameters of the magazine / book, with a fluid identity, RvmMagazine is a publication to be collected and reread, enriched by an unusual tactile experience given by the use of eight different papers in each issue, each choice to match images and words. For the first years of publication, the Rvm editorial team decided to address its research using different colors as a means to investigate the contemporary, almost like photographic filters on the world (red, white, black, in the first three numbers).
