Wednesday 4th e Saturday 7th November, Francesca Leonardi, ‘O Post Mio

‘O Post Mio  is an eight-year photographic work in which Francesca Leonardi followed the life of Claudia. A woman who, together with her two daughters. In the 1960s, when the Coppola Village was built, destroying a rich pinewood forest, it was the largest illegal urban agglomeration in Europe. Claudia’s life resembles the fate of this pine forest. On her body have been poured flows of violence and marginalization that have transfigured her life. The book, divided into two parts has on one side the photographic part with the images of these 8 years, interspersed with scans of images from Claudia’s past. On the other side a booklet containing Claudia’s story told through the author experience and words.

On Saturday 7thwe’ll host Francesca Leonardi in the bookshop, where she’ll i shares with us the stories related to her book.

Francesca Leonardi works on long term photo-based projects with a particular interest in the interactions between the places and the people who live there. Francesca Leonardi was born in Rome. After the first years of study in pscicology she left for the United States where she lived for the next nine years. While living in New York she attended the ICP (International Center of Photography) studying with Amy Arbus (daughter of Diane Arbus) and working as an assistant photographer for many years in fashion and portrait. In 2006 he returned to Italy. Since 2010, she has been represented by the photojournalistic agency Contrasto.
Her works have appeared in numerous printed and web publications such as: Espresso, Internazionale, Io Donna, Gioia, Marie Claire, Foto8, The Independent, The Wall Street Journal, Die Zeit, Photo Raw.
